There will be an opportunity for discussion before the talk and time for some reflection afterwards. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church, one of the oldest branches of Christianity, traces its ancestry to King Solomon of the Old Testament, who is said to have fathered a child with the Queen of Sheba. Unlike other Christian denominations, they combine Old Testament and New Testament practices whilst retaining some rituals found in Judaism. The Revd Arthur has visited Ethiopia on several occasions and plans to show slides of the three-day festival that commemorates the baptism of Jesus Christ by John the Baptist in the River Jordan. Further details are available from the Revd Arthur (championarthur@gmail.com ).
