Good Friday Pilgrimage

Over the past years there has been a Pilgrimage on Good Friday, with walking between our churches in the south of the Benefice and a meditation in each. The Pilgrimage extended in 2018 to include the northern churches too.

Obviously this year we are not able to run an organised Pilgrimage, though individuals may choose to walk between churches as part of their "exercise". Also since groups of up to six are permitted outside from March 26, there may be some scope for walking with others.

Accepting that many may look for a time of meditation on Good Friday, some resoures are provided here. These are based on the patronal of the southern churches (with a little artistic licence for "All Saints"). Links to the resorces are as follows:

Introduction

All Saints (North Cerney)

St Margaret of Antioch (Bagendon)

St Mary Magdalene (Baunton)

St Peter (Rendcomb and Stratton)

Finale

Many of he images in used are of paintings by the German artist Sieger Koder (1925 - 2015). He fought in the second world war, after which he took up teaching and practising art. He was ordained as a Catholic priest in 1971 and ministered near Stuttgart from 1975 to 1995. His pictures are heavily influenced by the Holocaust and his experience of war during the time of the Nazis, as well as by his priestly ministry.
